PHBCS is a term used to describe the group of symptoms that come about 4-6 months after stopping any form of hormonal contraception eg. The oral contraceptive pill, IUDs, implants, transdermal patches etc.
While there are often many symptoms that can come about while being on the pill, coming off it can be just as disruptive.
Generally it should take 2-3 months for your hormones to rebalance after coming off the pill but for some that's not the case.
Some PHBC syndrome symptoms include:
Sufferers often feel overwhelmed as they feel like their only solution is to go back on the pill but thankfully there are lots of ways we can restore hormonal balance and resolve these conditions using natural medicine, even if it's been months or years since the symptoms started.
The other thing about this condition is that it is SO common! Once you start talking about it most people can think of at least one person they know who is struggling with some form of PHBC syndrome.
I hope we can spread the word to as many women as possible, who often feel helpless, to let them know that there are other safe and effective solutions to these symptoms.
“After experiencing first-hand how effective natural medicine and dietary changes can be for treating anxiety I couldn’t believe that I had suffered in silence for so long without it. It was this realisation that set me on my mission to spread the word and help others to better manage mood so that they could stop wasting time and get on with life without unwanted thoughts slowing them down.”Jessica Trethowan, Naturopath
